The design qualities of Charmaine Baltis’ jewellery, infuse the dynamics of velvet strength with bold sensitivity. Motivated by the desire to inject her pieces with spirit, Charmaine draws inspiration from ancient tribal art, religious symbols & rituals, natural textures and form. The concept of wearing an amulet, although an ancient tradition, is entirely relevant to the conservation of our souls and our delicate eco-system, a symbol of strength to cross the ocean of life.
Replicating these qualities, her designs have featured reptilian leather embedded with jewels, perfect textures of nature emulated into precious metal, and carved buffalo horn dripping with the grandeur and excitement of the wild. Combined with the lustre of ocean pearls & precious metal and the intense colour’s of gem stones, Baltis manages to create true amulets of beauty, strength and emotion.
